3 Most Important Plugins Every WordPress Blog Needs
Yoast SEO
We’ve mentioned this in previous episodes. It’s simply the best SEO plugin. We used to use All in One SEO. Yoast is much better. They have an auto import option so if you are changing from another plugin over to Yoast, it’s easy to import and not lose all your old SEO data.
Most of you guys know what SEO is. It makes your site rank on search engines. Yoast makes it very easy to add all your keyword and meta info for both google and for social networks. This means you can have one headline SEO keyword optimised for Google, while having a completely different “click bait” headline for Facebook and twitter.
Yoast also connects with google webmaster tools and google analytics. I’m going to talk about those tools more in a future episode when we discuss the rest of the tools we use.
Trust us, If you are not already using Yoast, use it. It’s kickass.

Wordfence Security & Caching
If you are worried about your site getting hacked, and you should be! Then word fence is a free security solution that monitors for strange behaviour, such as people trying to login multiple times with non-existent usernames or incorrect passwords.
Or if some robot is trying to access hundreds of your pages in a few seconds to try and crash your site. The plugin automatically blocks this sort of behaviour.
By stopping these sorts of attacks, you not only protect your site from hackers, you reduce the server load, meaning your site will run faster.
This plugin also includes a caching option that changes the way your blog posts are delivered to your visitors – making it more streamlined and once again helping your site run faster.
Wordfence – Security and caching plugin to protect and speed up your site.
WP Spam-shield
This protects your email forms without the need to use a CAPTCHA – better for users as finding the weird letters on those little pictures is a pain.
how it works.. who knows. But it does work. We still get marketing emails, but we rarely see any junk spam hitting our inbox. And when you manage 5 different websites, not wasting time on spam email is great.
It also blocks comment spam and registration spam – saving you time sifting through junk comments on your site. Yay!
WP Spam Shield – Remove Comment Spam and email spam.
